ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a structured program, including counseling and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), can help people who use e-cigarettes quit vaping. Researchers want to see if this approach is more effective than just counseling alone. Participants in the study will first attend a counseling session where they will learn tips for quitting and track their vaping habits for a week. After that, they will be randomly placed into one of two groups—one receiving the full program with NRT and the other receiving counseling only. Follow-up assessments will occur at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months to see how many people successfully quit vaping.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be at least 18 years old, live in Ontario, and regularly use e-cigarettes (at least once a week for the past month). Those with certain cognitive or psychiatric issues, individuals living in care facilities, or those already enrolled in other cessation programs won’t be able to participate. This trial is important because it aims to fill a gap in resources for e-cigarette users who want to quit, especially since current vaping trends, particularly among young people, raise health concerns.
