ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to help patients recover after thyroid surgery. Researchers want to see if using a special method called pressure supporting ventilation, along with monitoring brain activity using an EEG (a test that measures electrical signals in the brain), can help reduce problems that some patients face when waking up from anesthesia. They will compare this approach to the usual method of waking up from anesthesia. The main things they will look at include how often patients cough when they wake up and how much oxygen they have in their blood during this time.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult under 40 years old who is scheduled for thyroid surgery. However, some patients cannot join, such as those who are pregnant, have sleep apnea, or are having more complicated surgeries like lymph node biopsies. If you take part, you will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods of waking up from anesthesia. The study will track various things, including your comfort level, any side effects like a sore throat, and your overall satisfaction with the recovery process. This trial is currently looking for participants, so if you meet the criteria, you might have the chance to contribute to important research that could improve recovery after thyroid surgery.
