ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the amount of keratinized tissue (a type of gum tissue) in the mouth affects the health of dental implants in patients who have lost all their teeth and have received dental implants. Specifically, the study will measure the width of this tissue at the implant sites and see if there's a connection between the width of the tissue and issues like peri-implantitis, which is an infection that can occur around implants. This infection is identified by certain signs, including deep gum pockets and bleeding when the area is examined.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be between the ages of 65 to 74, have stable dental implants that have been in place for at least 12 months, and have either removable or fixed full-arch prostheses (the artificial teeth that replace all missing teeth). Those with unstable implants or who still have some natural teeth will not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo a thorough examination of their dental implants and gum tissue, which will help researchers understand the relationship between tissue health and implant success. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to improve dental care for patients with implants in the future.
