ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how children are ventilated (helped to breathe) during and after surgery with general anesthesia. Researchers want to understand the different ways that machines are used to assist children's breathing and how these methods might lead to problems with their lungs after the surgery. They hope to find better guidelines for doctors to follow, which could help reduce the chances of complications that may require a longer hospital stay and increase costs.
To be eligible for this study, children must be 16 years old or younger, undergoing general anesthesia, and require help with their breathing using a tube or a special device. Participants will be monitored during their procedure to see how the different ventilation strategies affect their recovery. It’s important to know that some children will not be able to participate, such as those undergoing certain types of surgeries that involve complex breathing support. Overall, this trial aims to improve the safety and effectiveness of breathing assistance for children during surgery.
