ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special high-protein diet can help increase muscle mass in adults who are critically ill and being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Researchers will use ultrasound, a painless imaging technique, to measure muscle mass changes in these patients. This is important because maintaining muscle strength can help patients recover better and faster during their hospital stay.
To participate in this study, patients need to be critically ill and have a specific health assessment score that indicates a serious condition. They should also be able to receive nutrition through feeding tubes. However, those with certain medical conditions, such as difficulties absorbing nutrients or specific muscle diseases, won’t be eligible. The trial is currently not recruiting participants, but when it starts, those who qualify can expect to be closely monitored for their muscle health as part of their treatment.
