ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating the risk of bleeding in the brain, known as intracranial hemorrhage, that may be associated with different blood-thinning medications, particularly newer ones called Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) like rivaroxaban and apixaban. These medications are often preferred over older treatments like warfarin because they do not require regular blood tests and have a lower risk of bleeding. The researchers want to find out how common these bleeding events are and whether certain blood thinners are more likely to cause them.

To participate in this study, you need to be over 18 years old, diagnosed with an intracranial hemorrhage, and currently taking an oral anticoagulant. Your medical records from January 2015 to July 2023 should be available for review. If you join, you can expect to help researchers understand the patterns of bleeding related to these medications, which could lead to better treatments and safer use of blood thinners in the future. The study is currently recruiting participants, and both men and women are welcome to take part.
