ClinConnect Summary
The RISABS trial is investigating how certain features of fat in the abdomen (called radiomics) can help predict how effective bariatric surgery will be for weight loss and controlling type 2 diabetes. Bariatric surgery is a medical procedure that helps people with obesity lose weight. This study is currently looking for participants who are at least 18 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) over 27.5, and have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. To join, individuals must be planning to undergo either sleeve gastrectomy or Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and must have had an abdominal CT scan.
If you participate in this study, researchers will analyze your fat tissue and clinical information to see how well these factors can predict your weight loss success and improvement in diabetes after surgery. It's an exciting opportunity to contribute to research that may help many others facing similar health challenges.
