ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether taking nitrate supplements, specifically in the form of beetroot powder, can help lower blood pressure and improve blood vessel function in patients with resistant hypertension. Resistant hypertension is a condition where blood pressure remains high despite treatment with medication. The trial aims to see if this natural supplement can make a difference for these patients, as high blood pressure can lead to serious health issues like heart disease and stroke.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a confirmed diagnosis of resistant hypertension without any recent changes to their blood pressure medications. Unfortunately, those with certain health conditions, such as cancer or heart failure, or those taking other nitrate medications, cannot join. Participants can expect to be involved in a study that monitors their blood pressure and vascular health to determine if the nitrate supplementation is effective. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it offers a chance to contribute to important research aimed at improving treatment for high blood pressure.
