Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Sense Of Touch Dynamic Balance Spinal Orthosis

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how wearing a special back brace, called a spinal orthosis, affects the sense of touch and balance in teenagers with a specific type of scoliosis known as Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). The researchers believe that wearing the brace for at least 20 hours a day can help improve the curvature of the spine and may also influence how sensitive the skin is in the areas affected by the curve. They want to understand how these changes relate to balance, body fat, and any pain experienced by the participants.

To be eligible for the trial, participants should be between the ages of 10 and 18, have a lumbar curvature between 20-45 degrees, and have never worn a spinal brace before. Participants will be closely monitored during the study, and they can expect to undergo sensory testing and assessments of their balance while using the spinal orthosis. This study aims to gather more information about how spinal braces can help young people with scoliosis, as there is currently limited research in this area.
