ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of the kangaroo position on preterm newborns who are receiving oxygen therapy. The kangaroo position involves holding the baby skin-to-skin against a parent or caregiver's chest, which can help with bonding and may improve the baby's health by stabilizing their heart rate, breathing, and body temperature. Researchers want to see how this position impacts the vital signs and breathing comfort of preterm infants who need extra oxygen to breathe properly.

To be eligible for the study, newborns must be between 28 and 36 weeks old and no more than 28 days old. They should be using supplemental oxygen but not have certain medical conditions like heart disease or active bleeding. Participants will be placed in the kangaroo position for a single session, and researchers will monitor their vital signs before, during, and after this time. This trial aims to gather more evidence on the benefits of the kangaroo position for babies who need additional support to breathe, which could lead to improved care practices in neonatal units.
