ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Automating Delirium Severity in the ICU," is focused on improving how we assess delirium in patients over 50 years old who are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Delirium is a serious condition that affects a person's mental state, causing confusion and changes in attention. Researchers are trying to develop a new tool, called a Passive Digital Marker (PDM), that uses video recordings to measure the severity of delirium more accurately than current methods. They want to find out if this tool works well and if it’s easy for nurses and caregivers to use.

To participate in this study, you need to be over 50 years old and expected to stay in the ICU for more than 24 hours. You cannot be admitted for certain conditions like alcohol or drug overdose. If you join the study, a camera will record you continuously while you are in the ICU, and study staff will visit you four times a day to ask questions. This will help the researchers understand how well the PDM works compared to traditional assessments. Your involvement could help improve care for future ICU patients experiencing delirium.
