ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how levels of a substance called isoprene, which we breathe out, can help predict the health and recovery of older patients undergoing heart surgery. Isoprene is produced by our muscles, and researchers believe that measuring its levels can give insights into a patient's physical strength and overall well-being after surgery. This information could be valuable for identifying patients who might be at higher risk for complications, allowing doctors to take steps to support their recovery better.

To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 65 years old and scheduled for a planned heart surgery that will take longer than one hour. Those who agree to take part will have their isoprene levels measured before and after the surgery to see how it relates to their recovery. It’s important to note that individuals with certain health conditions, such as severe infections or significant mobility issues, won’t be included in this study. Overall, this trial aims to improve care for older patients by using simple, non-invasive tests to understand their health better.
