ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial aims to study how different methods of providing mechanical ventilation (breathing support) can affect the outcomes of patients who have stopped breathing and require emergency care, specifically during specialized cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) outside of a hospital. Researchers will compare two types of ventilation: one that delivers a set amount of air (volume mode) and another that adjusts the air based on the patient's needs (pressure mode). The study will involve several hospitals and will focus on how well these methods work over time, as well as their safety.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 18 or older who have experienced a cardiorespiratory arrest outside of the hospital and are receiving specialized CPR. They must also be receiving invasive mechanical ventilation with a specific type of breathing machine. People who decide not to have invasive ventilation, those who do not wish to participate in research, or those with limitations on active medical treatments will not be included in the study. Participants can expect to be part of a carefully monitored process that aims to improve emergency care for patients in critical situations.
