ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called VARC-TAVI, is studying two different ways to perform a procedure known as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for patients with severe aortic stenosis, a condition where the heart's aortic valve narrows, making it hard for the heart to pump blood. Traditionally, doctors access the heart through a blood vessel in the groin. However, this study is exploring whether accessing the heart through the wrist might be a safer option with fewer complications. The researchers want to find out if using the wrist method can lead to better recovery and quality of life for patients.

To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult with severe aortic stenosis who is a candidate for the TAVI procedure and can give informed consent. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the wrist or groin access for their valve replacement. Throughout the study, doctors will track any major complications, like bleeding, and how well patients recover after the procedure. The ultimate goal of this research is to improve the safety and effectiveness of TAVI, helping doctors make better decisions for their patients in the future.
