Caregiver Dementia

ClinConnect Summary

The CAN-DO trial is looking to understand how an online course can help family members and friends who care for people with dementia. The study will include 270 caregivers, who will be randomly assigned to take the CAN-DO course right away or after waiting for a bit. Participants will share their experiences through interviews before and after the course, and the entire study will last for about six months.

To join the trial, caregivers should be at least 18 years old, provide at least four hours of care each week to someone living with dementia, and have internet access. It's also important that they can understand, speak, and read English. Caregivers who plan to move the person they care for to a facility within the next six months or whose care recipient is currently in hospice cannot participate. This study aims to equip caregivers with better skills to manage their caregiving responsibilities, ultimately benefiting both them and the individuals they care for.
