ClinConnect Summary
The PRIORITEES trial is studying patients who are waiting for hip replacement surgery, which is a common procedure in the NHS. Due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been waiting much longer than usual for their surgery, leading to increased pain and a lower quality of life. This study aims to help doctors identify patients who might experience further health issues if their surgery is postponed for too long.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to have hip arthritis and be on the waiting list for elective total hip replacement surgery. They should also be able to provide informed consent and have specific medical records, including two X-ray images of their pelvis taken at least three months apart. Participants in the study can expect to share their health experiences, which will help improve care for others in similar situations. It's important to know that this study is currently looking for volunteers of all ages and gender to better understand the impact of waiting for surgery on patients' health.
