ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating two different treatment options for patients who have a specific type of tear in their knee, known as a proximal ACL tear. The study aims to compare surgical repair of the ACL with functional treatment, which involves rehabilitation and physical therapy without surgery, to see which method leads to better knee function and allows people to return to sports more effectively. The researchers believe that those who undergo surgery may have better outcomes in terms of their ability to participate in sports and overall knee function.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and have a recent, isolated proximal ACL tear, meaning it’s a specific type of injury that hasn’t been previously operated on. They should also be involved in non-contact sports like skiing or racket sports. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and those who join can expect to receive either surgical or functional treatment based on their preference, followed by assessments to track their recovery and performance in sports. This study is important because it could help determine the best treatment approach for this common knee injury.
