ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how Wilson disease affects the brain and mental health. Wilson disease is a condition that causes too much copper to build up in the body, which can lead to both liver and neurological problems. The main goal of the study is to gather information from patients who have Wilson disease and show either liver or brain symptoms. Researchers will use specific tests to assess any cognitive (thinking) and psychiatric (mental health) issues these patients might have. They will also try to see if there are any connections between brain scans (MRI) and the symptoms the patients experience.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between the ages of 8 and 70 and diagnosed with Wilson disease. However, those with other neurological issues, severe psychiatric disorders, or who have had a liver transplant won’t be able to take part. Since the study is not yet recruiting, it’s a good time to learn more about it. If someone qualifies and decides to participate, they can expect to undergo evaluations that will help researchers understand the relationship between Wilson disease and brain function, ultimately aiming to improve care for patients.
