ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different methods for helping people with bone loss in the back of their upper jaw, specifically focusing on how well these methods can help create new bone for dental implants. The study will compare the use of special tools called Osseodensification burs with an electrical mallet to see which one helps form more new bone after a procedure called closed sinus floor elevation. This procedure is important for patients who need dental implants but don’t have enough bone in their jaw.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have some natural teeth missing in the back of their upper jaw, with at least 5mm of bone height remaining. Good oral hygiene is also required. However, people who smoke, have certain health conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or osteoporosis, or have received radiation or chemotherapy in the head and neck area won't be able to join. Participants can expect to undergo a procedure where one of the two methods will be used, and their progress will be monitored to see how well the bone grows back. This study is not yet recruiting, so it’s an early stage in the process.
