ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to see if a special program can help older adults get ready for major surgery. The program is designed to make sure that more seniors have access to a thorough health check-up before their surgery, which can help improve their outcomes. The trial involves two groups: older patients who are scheduled for major surgery and the healthcare providers who care for them. The researchers will compare the results from this trial to past data to see if the program is effective.
To be eligible for this trial, patients need to be at least 60 years old and have certain health conditions or be 85 years or older. They must also be referred by a surgeon for a preoperative comprehensive geriatric assessment (pCGA), which is a detailed evaluation of their health before surgery. It's important that participants can communicate in English and have a caregiver to help them through the process. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who join can expect to receive support in preparing for their surgery, which may lead to better recovery and overall health outcomes.
