ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different electrosurgical methods used during a procedure called Peroral Endoscopic Esophageal Myotomy (POEM), which helps treat a condition called achalasia. Achalasia affects the ability of the esophagus to move food into the stomach. The trial aims to compare the safety and effectiveness of two techniques: spray coagulation, which many doctors currently prefer, and a newer method called Precisect mode, which may be safer and less damaging to the surrounding tissue.
To participate in this trial, patients should be between 65 and 74 years old and must be diagnosed with an esophageal motility disorder confirmed through specific tests. However, individuals with certain conditions, like esophageal varices (swollen veins in the esophagus) or tumors, cannot join the study. Participants can expect to receive one of the two methods during their POEM procedure and will help researchers understand which method is better for treating achalasia safely and effectively. If you think you might be eligible or have more questions, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor.
