ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how breathing exercises before heart surgery might help patients recover better after a heart transplant. Researchers want to see if these exercises can improve how well patients breathe, cough, and swallow, which can be important for overall health. Previous studies suggest that practicing breathing exercises can be beneficial for other patients, so they are now exploring this approach specifically for heart transplant recipients.

To participate, you need to be an adult between 18 and 90 years old, not pregnant, and either being evaluated for or on the waiting list for a heart transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Participants will complete breathing exercises every day, undergo tests to check their breathing and swallowing abilities, and fill out questionnaires about their experiences. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you are interested and meet the criteria, you could play a key role in helping to improve recovery for future heart transplant patients.
