ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Environmentally Sustainable Nutrition for Older Adults study, is exploring a new dietary plan designed for older adults (ages 55 and up) who are dealing with obesity. The goal is to help participants adopt a diet that includes 60% plant-based proteins while they work on losing weight in a healthy way. Over eight weeks, 20 eligible participants will follow this new diet under the guidance of trained dieticians. The study will track how well participants can follow the diet, their protein intake, and their overall experiences with the program.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be 55 or older, have a body mass index (BMI) of over 30, or a BMI over 27 with a larger waist measurement. They must be living independently and willing to inform their doctor about their participation. Throughout the study, dieticians will monitor participants' food intake and help adjust their diets as needed. This trial is not only about weight loss but also about making a positive lifestyle change that could be used in future studies. If you're interested in participating, it’s important to know that you cannot be on a strict vegan diet or have certain medical conditions that would affect the intervention.
