ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how serious illnesses like sepsis and shock can affect blood flow in patients who have been in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers want to understand how these conditions might lead to long-lasting muscle weakness, known as ICU-Acquired Weakness (ICU-AW), which can make it hard for patients to exercise and recover after their time in the ICU.

To participate in this study, you must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have received mechanical ventilation (help with breathing through a machine) for at least 7 days while in the ICU. You also need to be part of another study that monitors small blood vessels while in the ICU. If you decide to join, you can expect to undergo exercise testing that will help researchers better understand your recovery needs. It’s important to know that if your health is expected to decline significantly in the next year or if you're unable to give consent, you won't be eligible to participate. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders.
