ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how drinking patterns change after people undergo bariatric surgery, which is a procedure designed to help with weight loss for those with obesity. Researchers want to understand not only how alcohol consumption might increase after surgery but also what psychological factors might predict these changes. This information is important because it can help create strategies to prevent potential problems with alcohol use after surgery.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher—or a BMI of 35 or higher with related health issues—and have a scheduled surgery date. You also need to be fluent in French and able to complete online questionnaires using a computer or smartphone. If you join the trial, you’ll be asked to share your experiences and fill out some forms about your drinking habits and mental health after your surgery. This research aims to provide valuable insights that can improve support for patients after bariatric surgery.
