ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how common anemia (a condition where you don't have enough red blood cells) is in people who have bariatric surgery, which helps with weight loss. The study aims to understand both the short-term and long-term effects of this condition after two specific types of surgery: sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Researchers also want to find out what factors might put someone at risk for developing anemia after their surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 16 and 70 years old and planning to have one of the two surgeries mentioned. Importantly, they should not already have anemia before the surgery. If you join the study, you can expect to be monitored for anemia both soon after and in the months following your surgery. This research is important because it will help doctors understand how to better care for patients after bariatric surgery.
