ClinConnect Summary
The International Registry of Accidental Hypothermia is a study aimed at understanding accidental hypothermia, a serious condition that occurs when the body gets too cold, often due to accidents in winter sports, near drowning, or prolonged exposure to cold weather. While mild hypothermia is common and usually harmless, severe cases, where the body temperature drops below 28°C (82°F), can be life-threatening. This study seeks to gather a large amount of data on patients who experience hypothermia, looking at factors that affect their recovery and the best ways to warm them up safely. The goal is to improve treatment methods and develop guidelines that can help save lives.
Anyone who has experienced accidental hypothermia, with a body temperature of 35°C (95°F) or less, can participate in this study, regardless of age, gender, or health conditions. Participants will be part of a registry that collects information about their condition, the treatments they received, and the outcomes. If you're interested in learning more about this trial or think you might be eligible, it could be a valuable opportunity to help improve care for future patients affected by hypothermia.
