ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how the heart functions in newborns, specifically looking at a part of the heart's performance called diastolic function, which is how well the heart relaxes and fills with blood. The researchers want to find out what normal heart function looks like for babies born at 35 weeks of pregnancy or later, and how things like the mother's health during pregnancy, the delivery process, and the baby's own health might affect this. They also want to see if the changes in heart function that happen in the first couple of days after birth continue as the baby grows.

To participate in this study, babies need to be born at 35 weeks or later, and their parents must agree to join the study. Unfortunately, babies with certain heart defects or other serious conditions will not be eligible. Participating babies will have their heart function checked four times: twice within the first 48 hours after birth and twice more later during infancy. This research will help doctors understand more about heart health in newborns and provide better care in the future.
