ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the levels of vitamin D sulfates in breastmilk and how they affect infants. The researchers want to understand how much vitamin D is transferred from the mother’s milk to the baby through saliva and digestion. They are also looking at how 28 days of vitamin D supplements for breastfeeding mothers can change the vitamin D levels in their breastmilk.
To participate, mothers need to be at least two weeks postpartum (after giving birth) and plan to continue breastfeeding throughout the study. Infants must be exclusively breastfed and healthy, without any gastrointestinal diseases or recent antibiotic use. During the study, mothers will provide fresh samples of their breastmilk, and both mothers and infants will undergo some testing to measure vitamin D levels. This research will help improve our understanding of vitamin D nutrition in breastfeeding and its importance for infant health.
