ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) affects the hand functions of children. Specifically, it aims to compare the motor skills (like how well they can move their hands) and sensory functions (like how well they can feel things) of children with T1DM to those of healthy children. The researchers want to find out if kids with diabetes experience issues like weaker hand muscles or reduced sensitivity in their fingers compared to their peers without diabetes.
To participate, children must be between 7 and 18 years old and diagnosed with T1DM. Their families need to agree to the study and sign a consent form. The study will include 140 children, with half having T1DM and half being healthy. Participants will undergo various tests to measure their hand function, strength, and sensation. It’s important to note that children with certain health problems or who are unable to cooperate during tests will not be eligible. This research could help improve understanding of how T1DM affects kids and may lead to better care and support for them.
