ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how to better diagnose adrenal insufficiency (AI) in patients who have liver cirrhosis (LC). Many people with LC experience symptoms like fatigue and discomfort, which can also be seen in those with AI, leading to confusion in diagnosis. Researchers believe that measuring cortisol levels in saliva or directly in the blood might provide a clearer picture of cortisol levels in LC patients, compared to traditional methods. The study will involve 50 patients with LC who will undergo a special test and provide blood and saliva samples for analysis.
To participate in this study, you must be diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. However, some people may not be eligible, such as those who are pregnant, have had certain surgeries, or are taking specific medications that affect hormone levels. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo a quick test and have your samples analyzed to help find the best way to diagnose AI in individuals with liver cirrhosis. This research aims to improve how healthcare providers identify and treat adrenal insufficiency in these patients, which could lead to better overall care.
