ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on finding effective ways to engage and recruit American Indians from Southwestern Tribal Nations for a study on cancer genome sequencing. Researchers want to understand how genetic changes in cells contribute to higher rates of certain cancers, like liver, kidney, breast, and colon cancer, which are more common in this population. By learning more about these genetic changes, the study aims to improve cancer prevention and treatment for American Indians in the Southwest.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, self-identify as American Indian, and be either currently receiving treatment for cancer or a survivor of cancer. Unfortunately, individuals who cannot give consent for themselves, have cognitive impairments, or are not adults cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect to help researchers uncover important information that may lead to better cancer care for their community in the future.
