ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of telerehabilitation—a way to receive therapy through video calls—for helping older adults improve their balance and prevent falls. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a telerehabilitation group, where they will work with a physical therapist via video calls for two sessions a week over 12 weeks, or a control group that will receive the same fall prevention education and a brochure with exercise instructions. All participants are encouraged to exercise at home three times a week and keep track of their progress in a log book.

To be eligible for this trial, you should be at least 60 years old, able to walk independently (even if you use a walking aid), and have had at least one fall in the past year. Participants will be assessed on their balance and mobility through various tests at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. It’s important to note that those with certain unstable medical conditions or significant cognitive impairments will not be eligible. If you or a family member meets these criteria and is interested in improving balance to prevent falls, this trial could be a valuable opportunity.
