ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well non-invasive ventilation (a type of breathing support using a mask) works for patients in the emergency department who are experiencing acute respiratory failure. Researchers want to find out how often this method is not successful and what factors might contribute to that. They are especially interested in patients who are older or those who may not be candidates for intubation (a procedure where a tube is placed in the throat to help with breathing). By focusing on the first hour of treatment, they hope to gather important information about patient outcomes, such as whether they experience serious complications or need to stop the treatment.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and must be receiving non-invasive ventilation in a hospital or emergency setting. However, individuals who are minors, have specific care limitations, or certain health conditions that prevent the use of non-invasive ventilation won't be included. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, it aims to provide valuable insights that could improve care for patients with respiratory issues in emergency situations.
