ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how to better predict delirium, a sudden change in mental state that can happen after major surgery, especially in older adults. The researchers want to test a new way to assess the risk of delirium by using information from electronic medical records or a simple paper form. They aim to see if this new indicator can help reduce the chances of delirium after surgery and also understand its potential long-term effects on memory and thinking skills.

To participate in this study, you need to be at least 65 years old and scheduled for a major surgery that will require you to stay in the hospital for at least one day. However, if you have any current issues with memory or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or similar conditions, or if you are unable to communicate with the research team, you would not be eligible. If you join, you will be part of a group that will help researchers learn more about how to prevent delirium and its long-term effects, which could help improve care for older patients in the future.
