ClinConnect Summary
The Teen Mom Study is a clinical trial designed to help pregnant Black teens in the Mississippi Delta become more active and reduce time spent sitting. The study will test a program called #BabyLetsMove, which lasts 24 weeks and includes mobile health support and peer coaching, alongside the usual nutrition assistance offered by the WIC program. Researchers want to see if this program can help these young mothers exercise more, spend less time in front of screens, and manage their weight and blood pressure better than those who only receive standard WIC care.
To participate, young mothers must be between 15 and 19 years old, less than 16 weeks pregnant, and enrolled in the WIC program. They also need to have a mobile device and speak English. Participants will be encouraged to limit their screen time, walk more, or engage in organized exercise to improve their health. The goal is to find out if #BabyLetsMove can lead to better health outcomes for these teens and to learn how well the program works overall. If you're interested or know someone who might be, keep an eye out for more information as the study begins recruiting participants.
