Biometry Aberrometry Prospective Study

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different methods of calculating the power of an intraocular lens (IOL) used during cataract surgery. The researchers want to find out which method is more accurate: one that uses a special device called intraoperative aberrometry (ORA) or a traditional method known as the Barrett Universal II preoperative calculation. The goal is to see which method gives patients better vision outcomes right after surgery.

To participate in this study, you should have senile cataracts and be preparing for phacoemulsification, a common type of cataract surgery. You will need to have a complete eye examination and certain measurements taken beforehand. Unfortunately, if you have certain eye conditions, like glaucoma or severe diabetic eye disease, you may not be eligible to join. If you do take part, you can expect to have your vision measured before and after the surgery to compare the results between the two groups. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all ages, so if you think you might be interested, it's a good idea to talk to your eye doctor for more information.
