ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of a small, wireless camera called a capsule endoscope to see if it can help doctors find out why some people have iron deficiency anemia (a condition where you don't have enough iron in your blood). The goal is to see if this new method is just as good as traditional endoscopy, which is a procedure where a doctor uses a long, flexible tube to look inside the body. This study is important because pinpointing the cause of iron deficiency anemia can help prevent serious issues, like bowel cancer.
To participate in the trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been referred for endoscopy because of confirmed iron deficiency anemia. However, people who are pregnant, have serious heart problems, or have had certain types of bowel surgery may not be eligible. If you join the study, you'll take the capsule, which you will swallow, and it will take pictures of your digestive tract as it moves through your body. This is a non-invasive way to help doctors understand what might be causing your anemia. The study is not yet recruiting participants, so there will be more information available in the future.
