ClinConnect Summary
The Safe Fast Track Study is a clinical trial designed to improve how emergency departments (ED) care for patients with non-specific complaints. Many people who visit the ED may not need to be admitted to the hospital and could be treated in other ways. The study focuses on a blood test called D-dimer, which can help identify patients who are at low risk for serious health issues. If a patient has a normal D-dimer result when they arrive at the ED, research shows they have a very low chance of serious problems in the following month. The goal of the trial is to see if sharing this information with doctors can help them make quicker decisions about when patients can go home.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and able to understand and sign consent forms in Danish. You should be stable when you arrive at the ED, meaning your vital signs are normal and you can walk on your own. However, if you have a serious medical condition that needs immediate attention, have been seriously injured, or are likely to need a D-dimer test for other reasons, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you'll have the opportunity to help researchers understand how using D-dimer results can speed up the process of deciding when patients can safely leave the ED.
