ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a potential way to predict delayed bleeding after the removal of large polyps in the colon. When doctors remove these polyps during a procedure called polypectomy, some patients may experience bleeding afterward, but this happens in about 1 out of every 40 cases. The researchers want to see if a simple test called the fecal immunochemical test (FIT), which checks for signs of bleeding in stool, can help identify patients at risk of this complication. Participants in the study will take this test daily for two weeks after their polyp removal.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and have had at least one advanced polyp larger than 10mm removed during a colonoscopy. Those currently dealing with advanced colorectal cancer, certain types of bowel disease, or who cannot provide consent will not be included. By joining this study, participants will help researchers learn more about predicting post-polypectomy bleeding, which could improve patient safety and care after polyp removal.
