ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different methods of pain relief after a laparoscopic appendectomy, which is a common surgery to remove the appendix. The trial compares the effectiveness and safety of two techniques: the erector spinae plane block and the transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block. Both methods use ultrasound to guide the injection of pain-relieving medication, aiming to help patients recover more comfortably and potentially shorten their hospital stay.

To participate in this trial, you should be between 18 and 50 years old and scheduled for a laparoscopic appendectomy. You should also be in good physical health, as indicated by a specific classification called ASA I or II, which means you are generally healthy or have mild health issues. However, if you have certain conditions like allergies to local anesthetics, pregnancy, or serious health problems affecting your heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys, you may not be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive one of the two pain relief methods after your surgery and help researchers understand which approach works best for managing postoperative pain.
