ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new method called modified TAPSE (m-TAPSE) to measure heart function during a procedure called transcatheterization. The goal is to see if m-TAPSE, which uses special imaging techniques to check how well the heart is working, can provide useful information about heart function in children and young adults aged 1 to 18 years. The trial will compare the results of m-TAPSE measured using two different imaging methods: transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE).
To participate in the study, patients need to be between 1 and 18 years old and scheduled for a pediatric heart procedure. They should also be in good health (ASA class 1-3), meaning they have mild or moderate medical issues. However, if a parent or guardian does not agree to the patient participating, or if the patient has more serious health problems (ASA class 4 or higher), they will not be included in the trial. Participants can expect to undergo the imaging tests while under anesthesia, and their heart function will be carefully evaluated by a pediatric cardiologist. This research aims to improve how doctors assess heart function in young patients.
