ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a special type of ultrasound can detect heart problems early in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The researchers want to find out if a measurement called the first-phase ejection fraction (EF1) can identify heart issues sooner than other ultrasound methods. By comparing patients with CKD to healthy volunteers, the team hopes to see if EF1 is a more sensitive tool for spotting left ventricular systolic dysfunction, which is when the heart has trouble pumping blood effectively.
To participate, you must be a patient with chronic kidney disease who is currently hospitalized at The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and have a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 50% or higher. Unfortunately, if you have conditions like primary hypertension or diabetes, or if you are pregnant, you won’t be eligible for this study. If you join, you can expect to undergo an echocardiogram, which is a painless ultrasound of your heart. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested should talk to their healthcare provider for more information.
