ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a substance called presepsin to see how well it can predict certain health outcomes in patients with ascites related to chronic liver failure. Ascites is the buildup of fluid in the abdomen, which can occur in people with liver issues. The researchers want to find out if measuring presepsin levels can help them better understand the condition of patients who are newly admitted to the hospital for this issue.

To participate in the study, patients need to be over 18 years old and have ascites due to chronic liver failure. They should also be able to safely undergo a procedure called paracentesis, which involves removing fluid from the abdomen for testing. Patients will have the opportunity to contribute to important research that may improve future treatments for liver-related conditions. It's important for participants to provide informed consent, meaning they understand the study and agree to take part. The trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, and the age range for this study is from 18 years and older.
