ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease, affects brain function. SLE can lead to problems in the nervous system, which is known as neuropsychiatric lupus. Many patients experience issues with thinking and emotions, and these problems can significantly impact their quality of life. The trial uses a special brain scan called fMRI, which is a safe and non-invasive way to see changes in brain function before any physical changes occur. By comparing SLE patients with healthy individuals, the researchers hope to understand how SLE affects the brain and find ways to diagnose and treat these issues early.
To participate in the trial, eligible individuals must be right-handed females aged between 65 and 74 years without any serious neurological or mental health conditions. They should be able to cooperate with the MRI process and the related examinations. Participants can expect to undergo fMRI scanning, which is painless and does not involve any surgery or injections. This study aims to provide valuable insights into brain health for those living with SLE, ultimately helping improve patient care and early intervention strategies.
