ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special computer program, called a machine learning algorithm, can help predict a serious condition known as postoperative delirium (POD) in older patients after certain types of lung surgeries. POD is a common complication that can lead to confusion and other health issues, especially in people aged 65 and older. The researchers aim to develop models that can assist doctors in making better decisions to prevent this condition and improve patient care.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 65 years old and scheduled for specific lung surgeries like segmentectomy, lobectomy, or esophagectomy, all of which require general anesthesia. However, individuals who have had cognitive issues before surgery, are undergoing very short surgeries, or have other specific conditions won't be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to be part of a research effort that could help improve outcomes for older patients undergoing surgery in the future.
