ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help men in Vietnam quit smoking using mindfulness and mobile phone technology. The study will involve 1,200 adult male smokers who will receive different types of text messages over 12 weeks. Some participants will get messages that combine health information about smoking with mindfulness techniques to help them quit. Others will receive messages focusing only on the health risks of smoking, while a third group will get basic healthy lifestyle messages. The goal is to see which type of message leads to the highest rates of quitting smoking and improved knowledge about smoking's health risks.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be current smokers living in specific areas of Hai Duong province, able to read and write in Vietnamese, and have a cell phone that can send and receive text messages. They should not have any serious health issues that would prevent them from participating, and they must agree to receive the messages and take part in follow-up interviews. By joining this study, participants can expect support and information aimed at helping them quit smoking, and they will contribute to important research that could benefit many others trying to quit.
