ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "EMG Analysis in ABI: Motor Imagery and Action," is studying how specific rehabilitation techniques can help stroke survivors improve their hand and arm movements. Researchers at the University of Salamanca want to see how two methods—Motor Imagery (thinking about moving) and Action Observation (watching others move)—affect muscle activity in the arms. By measuring how well the muscles in the wrist and fingers respond during these activities, the study aims to find out how these techniques can aid recovery and enhance the quality of life for those who have experienced a stroke.
To participate in the study, individuals need to be at least 18 years old and have had a stroke that has caused some weakness or difficulty in moving their arms. They should also be able to understand and follow instructions. However, those with certain mental health issues before their stroke, severe heart or lung problems, or other serious health conditions may not be eligible. Participants will take part in three sessions where their muscle activity will be measured, helping researchers learn more about effective ways to support recovery after a stroke. This research could lead to better rehabilitation practices in occupational and physiotherapy.
