ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different medications, dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine, on pain management after spine surgery. Specifically, it focuses on how these medications can help improve the duration of pain relief provided by a technique called an erector spinae plane block, which is used to numb the area around the spine during and after surgery. The trial is currently looking for participants who are undergoing specific types of spine surgery, like lumbar decompression and stabilization, and who are between the ages of 18 and 100.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be in generally good health (classified as ASA physical status 1, 2, or 3) and must not have a history of opioid abuse or infections at the injection site. Those who join the trial can expect to receive either dexamethasone or dexmedetomidine as part of their pain management plan after surgery, helping doctors understand which medication works better for longer-lasting relief. This study is an important step in improving pain management for patients undergoing spine surgery.
