Continuous Subcutaneous Glucose Monitoring Critical Care Intensive Care Hypoglycemia

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can help manage blood sugar levels in critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at HLA Moncloa Hospital. The researchers want to find out how often patients experience low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which is when glucose levels drop below 80 mg/dL. They will track these events over four years to better understand the impact of using CGM sensors in patients who are receiving insulin treatment.

To participate, patients must be admitted to the ICU, be undergoing insulin therapy, and have a CGM sensor placed on their skin. They or their family members will need to give consent to join the study. Throughout the trial, participants will have their glucose levels monitored closely, and the medical team will take action if any low blood sugar levels are detected. This study aims to enhance patient care by learning more about how to prevent and manage low blood sugar in critically ill patients.
